Murmillo Gladiator – 2nd century AD

This time I took a step back a few years, revisiting an older production: one of the many gems by Kaustic Plastick. An excellent starting point, thanks to the meticulous work of Danilo Leo, Master Prototypist at KP (when the Factory produced exclusively historical figures).

The work focused primarily on remodeling the body, remaking all leather elements and limb guards. All metal parts were weathered to simulate bronze oxidation.

The base features a funerary inscription dating back to the II century AD and dedicated to Flamma: one of the most famous gladiators of that era.

This reads: “Gods Mani (the protector gods) – Flamma Secutor (his real gladiatorial category was Secutor, which I arbitrarily changed to Mirmillo) – He lived 31 years – Born in Syria – He fought 34 matches (including the fatal final one) – He won 21 – 9 of them ended in draws – He was pardoned 4 times and 4 times refused the Rudis (the wooden sword symbolizing freedom).”
